STERLING SILVER BOWL BY TOWLE SHREVE CRUMP & LOW AND FORK AND SPOON BY LUNT
The featured lot consists of an antique sterling silver candy dish or bowl by Towle and retailed by Shreve Crump & Low Co and a fork and spoon by Lunt. The pieces are not a set and by different makers but I'm throwing the Lunt ones as a bonus.
The bowl measures approximately 1 1/8" tall and 6 1/8" across the opening. It weighs about 4.5 ounces. Decorated with scrolls and flowers in relief. The base is signed with name of the pattern "Candlelight", "Sterling", the model number "48380", the Towle maker's mark which is a bit faint and the retailer " Shreve Crump & Low Co."
Shreve, Crump & Low, a Boston, Massachusetts business was established in 1796 by watchmaker and silversmith John McFarlane and is the oldest purveyor of luxury goods in North America, responsible for trophies such as the Davis Cup and the Cy Young Award
The bowl comes in overall good condition for its age with no major damages. Normal vintage wear like small scuffs, marks and scratches and some patina and tarnishing.
The spoon is about 4 1/2" long and the fork 4 3/4". Total weight is approx. 1.20 ounces. Both pieces are monogrammed at the top of the handles with letter "C" and marked on the back with "Sterling" and "Lunt". Patina, tarnishing and usage wear but no major damages.
