Last-Minute Valentine’s Day Gifts That Kids Can Craft
Valentine’s Day is almost here! And your child just asked if you bought something for them to give grandma, grandpa or their favorite sitter. You didn’t. But that doesn’t mean it’s too late to help your little one make their very own last-minute Valentine’s Day gift for someone special. If you don’t have time to spend hours shopping at the mall and it’s too late to order something online (without paying astronomical overnight shipping fees), check out these easy-to-make DIY gifts.
Your kiddo can treat a loved one to a day (or several days) of beauty and pampering with a handmade gift. Your kitchen is filled with ingredients that, when combined, create beauty treatments galore. If you have candy conversation hearts on hand, crush them and mix them with a few tablespoons of petroleum jelly. What do you get? An exfoliating lip scrub with a sweet scent. Your child can also mix course sugar, coco powder and coconut oil to create a moisturizing (and chocolatey) face scrub. Explore and experiment with different combos, creating cute candy-themed beauty gifts galore!
Turn those family photos into a Valentine’s Day book. Pick favorite photos, glue or tape each one to a piece of card stock paper, punch holes on the left side, stack the pages and ‘sew’ the book together with a pretty piece of ribbon.
If you have construction paper, crayons and markers you have a Valentine’s Day card in the making. Dress the card up with cut pieces of tissue that your child crumples and glues onto the paper. These look like mini roses, giving the card an extra-special touch.
