Along with crafts, games, and educational activities, you can also help your child to create a few tree-themed recipes. If you’re not sure where to start, read on for a few fun-filled ideas.
Fruit Tree Pie
What’s your family’s favorite fruit? Choose apples, pears, plums, or another fruit from a tree to use as the centerpiece of an Arbor Day pie. If you don’t have time to bake a pie from scratch or are a baking novice, try a smaller fruit tartlet. Start with a pre-baked tart crust and add a thin layer of vanilla yogurt on top. Slice fruit and place it on top of the yogurt!
Tree-Shaped Snack Plate
Create a snack plate that’s shaped like a tree or an entire forest! Start with pretzel rods—turning them into tree trunks. Add chopped green peppers, small-sized celery sticks, or pieces of broccoli to the top as leaves. Add cherry tomatoes or another veggie as faux fruit.
Tree Trail Mix
Make a sweet and savory snack out of your family’s favorite tree fruits, nuts, and more. Mix dried apples, pears, peaches, or other similar options with tree nuts. Add in tree trunk-shaped mini pretzel sticks to complete the tasty trail mix blend.
