Easy Last-Minute Valentine’s Day Treat Ideas
It’s almost Valentine’s Day and you’re in charge of bringing the treats for your child’s school party. But you don’t exactly have the time to spend an entire day in the kitchen baking. And buying ready-made goodies isn’t an option either. What can you do? Try an in-between alternative, adding your own homemade touch to a store-bought Valentine’s Day sweet!
The local bakery is sold out of heart-shaped cookies. Instead of baking your own, buy your child’s favorite flavor of cookie. Don’t worry about the fact that the cookies are round. Make sure to choose semi-soft to soft baked cookies. If the cookie is old or stale, this strategy won’t work well. Simply press a heart-shaped cookie cutter into the round cookies, creating the perfect holiday treat.
Whether you’re starting with heart-shaped cookies or you made your own, you can decorate the baked treats with a Valentine’s Day theme. Cover the cookies with red or pink frosting. Add red, pink and white sprinkles or colored crystal sugar.
Turn a store-bought cookie cake into a Valentine’s Day treat. Outline a heart in the center of the cookie with frosting. Carefully cut around it. Re-frost the outside of the heart. This gives you a chance to cover up any imperfections from the cutting process. Add a Valentine’s Day message with frosting in the center of the cake.
