St. Patrick’s Day Family Fun
St. Patrick’s Day is here. You’ve got the green gear for the kids to wear, but what about the holiday activities? Make some luck o’ the Irish at home with these last minute fun-filled crafts, projects and ideas!
Paint a rainbow. If you have at least three colors of paint (the primaries- red, yellow and blue), you can paint a rainbow. Set up a color-mixing science exploration and ask the kids to make as many colors from the three primaries as they can. Next, finger print or use a paintbrush to create a rainbow!
Add a pot of gold. Now that you’ve got a rainbow, it’s time to add a St. Patrick’s Day pot of gold. Cut black paper into a circle and add yellow or gold finger prints inside.
Stage a leprechaun hunt. Sprinkle a ‘path’ of green glitter around the house or outside. Have the kids search for the little leprechaun that left the tail. Leave a small prize (such as chocolate gold coins) at the end.
Make a green meal. You’re not sure about adding drops of green food coloring to everything in the kitchen. So, how can you have a St. Patty’s themed ‘green’ meal? Pick foods that come in the color naturally. Try an arugula salad with peppers and cucumbers or make a pesto-covered pizza.
Play pretend. Dress up like leprechauns and stage a holiday play at home. Act out a favorite St. Patrick’s Day story or make up your own.
