1930'S ART DECO ALL-IN-VUE COCKTAIL RECIPIE BOOKLET LONG ISLAND CITY, NEW YORK
1930'S ART DECO ALL-IN-VUE COCKTAIL RECIPIE BOOKLET LONG ISLAND CITY, NEW YORK:
Offered is a c.1930’s novelty cocktail recipe sample booklet with a cover title “All-In-Vue 84 Drinks For You”. The cover features Deco-style graphics. Thirty-two pages of the book are graduated (become smaller) from both the front and back,(until the middle) with the edge of each page specifying the cocktail name—a sort of vertically-printed index. The edges of the stiff paper wrappers have similar vertical printing stating cocktail categories: Fizzes, Rickeys, Highballs, Punchs etc. The bottom of the interior of the back wrapper reads: “Recipes and information compiled principally from the ‘Professional Bartenders Guide‘ with the permission of the author, John T. Fitzgerald...” Presumably, this booklet was published by Ben Klein of Long Island City, New York, the holder of the copyright, as stated on the bottom verso of the cover. In addition to the cocktail recipes, this stapled booklet contains a section on canapés, facts about alcoholic beverages, and a full page guide to wines. We are aware of another version (edition) of this booklet which has a cover promoting a liquor store. The back cover shows that this copy is “sample No. 59” and its availability for an advertisement, possibly for a liquor store.
