Dads Army BIOGRAPHY DADS ARMY. British BBC TV comedy series based around The Home Guard of World War 2. Extremely popular it ran for 80 episodes regularily attracting 18 million + viewers between 1968-1977 and also became a feature film / radio show and stage show. The antics of the seven main characters are now legendary and have instilled into popular culture many still commonly used everyday catchphrases like "You Stupid Boy". In a 2004 TV poll it was voted the 4th greatest sitcom ever. Today it is still rarely off our TV screens and has a whole new legion of fans and appreciation societies. In 2014 it was announced there would be a big screen remake starring many household names this is set for release in 2016. View Images. Overall condition 8.5/10. Signature clarity all 8+/10 CERTIFICATION & PROVENANCE These autographs were obtained by Tony Mabbett who was a trumpeter in the Orchestra for the touring show. Hence many members of the orchestra (including him) also signing this item. Dads Army The Show opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre London on 2nd October 1975. On the opening night there was a surprise appearance by Chesney Allen singing the song "Hometown" with Arthur Lowe. It then ran in the West End from 4th October to 21st February 1976 (where it was disrupted twice by bomb scares) and then toured the country until 4th September 1976.
