Vintage "Pacific" Channel Letter Sign, from 1951.
This vintage Mid-Century Modern neon channel letter sign was made in 1951 by Luminous Neon Co. in Honolulu, Hawaii. It was made for the Pacific Insurance Building on Kapiolani Avenue in Waikiki.The sign was on the building for more than 65 years, from 1951 to 2018. It was rescued when the building was demolished in 2018. This enormous 14-foot wide sign is made of thick metal, coated in cherry red porcelain enamel. The gorgeous "Pacific" script letters are made of 5 sections, plus 2 dots. Similar vintage signs sell for $10,000 or more.The sign is in good condition, with some minor rust, wear, and a few white paint splashes. There are no neon tubes and no transformers, but some of the mounting brackets are intact. The sign has been professionally cleaned, and is currently inside a storage unit in Los Angeles.This beautiful sign would look amazing in your tiki bar, surf shop, restaurant, or even on your living room wall!Or, this would be perfect for someone with a business named "Pacific"!
