History:Spanish (Toledo) model 1843 artillery/engineer\'s shortsword, dated 1876, Spanish-American War. Point blunted from use, clearlyengraved ARTa FABa DE TOLEDO 1876 on ricasso, heavy brass handle with fish-scalegrip, plain crossbar and two-sided pommel with design of flaming mortar bomb, lightlypatinated all over, a design issued to Spanish colonial artillery to be used asboth a weapon and a tool (like a machete). Very seldom found, Great addition to any collection!

Condition:Original, as found. Iron blade with rich brown patina, minorAge pitting on tip. Blade deeply marked,ARTa FABa DE TOLEDO 1876.
