The Gazette of the United States (1789-1793) was an early American partisan newspaper first issued on April 15, 1789, as a biweekly publication friendly to the administration of George Washington, and to the policies and members of the emerging Federalist Party.

The Gazette was originally published in New York City by editor John Fenno, but followed the United States Government in 1790 to its new temporary seat and capital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

1) Proceedings of the House of Representatives debating the powers of the president (executive branch) on removing Secretary of Foreign Affairs

2) House continues to debate limits of power and accountability to the “people”

3) Senate vote on powers of Secretary of Foreign Affairs, the “patents of scientists and authors and tariffs on foreign “alcoholic” spirits.

4) A suggestion for Fourth of July festivities and celebrations.

5) On the back page there is an account of a Senate discussion/debate about the limits and exercising of power.
