Rosa Louise McCauley Parks [1913 2005] was an American activist in the civil rights movement best known for her pivotal role in the Montgomery bus boycott. On December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, Parks rejected bus driver James F. Blake's order to relinquish her seat in the ''colored section'' to a white passenger, after the white's only section was filled. Park's act of defiance and the Montgomery bus boycott became important symbols of the civil rights movement. Listed for sale is a stunning framed display which contains the autograph of Rosa Louise McCauley Parks. The display is centered around a wonderful photograph of Rosa Parks seated on a bus. The photograph is a quality color image which measures 8.00 x 10.00 inches. Mounted to the right of the photograph is the autograph of Rosa Parks signed on a commemorative cover. The cover commemorates Harriet Tubman and is postmarked Washington, DC, Feb 1, 1978 and is affixed with one U.S. postage stamp which also honors Harriet Tubman. The cover measures 6.50 x 3.50 inches and is in fine condition. The autograph is signed ''Rosa L. Parks'' in black felt pen. Mounted below her autograph is a professionally engraved metal bio plaque which reads as follows, ''Rosa Louise McCarthy Parks. February 4, 1913 - October 24, 2005. ''Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott''. On a cold December evening in 1955, Rosa Parks quietly incited a revolution by just sitting down. Rosa Parks rode at the front of a Montgomery, Alabama bus on the day the supreme Court's ban on segregation of the city's buses took effect. A year earlier, she had been arrested for refusing to give up her seat on a bus''. The display has been professionally assembled in all acid free materials with great attention to detail as follows. Each item within the display is triple matted in a gold linen outer matte and accented with a black and grey inner matte. The display has been completed in a quality ornate silver wood frame to the dimensions of 21.00 x 16.00 inches.
