Signed Autograph Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Rare Time Man Of The Year Cover Mlk :
Provenance Note: The original Dr. King pictures, credentials and business card are not included in this sale. They are presented here for reference. THE PIECE OFFERED HERE IS THE SIGNED DR. KING TIME MAGAZINE COVER ONLY. Reference the three historic civil rights pieces originally owned by L. Scott McNeil, who served as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Special Assistant when Dr. King was president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC): A pair of original, one-of-a-kind photographs of Dr. King and a hand-signed Dr. King Time Magazine Man of the Year cover. These extremely rare, never before published photographs and the Dr. King hand-signed Time Magazine cover endure as Association pieces because of Dr. King's relationship with Mr. McNeil.
Of special interest is the photo of Dr. King with his hands clasped in jail. Note the difference between this original image and the widely published picture of Dr. King in jail with his fingers to his face. In our research, we have never seen a copy of the picture in the main photos of this listing—with Dr. King's hands clasped in front of him, not touching his face—published anywhere. This prized personal possession was a unique photograph held privately by Dr. King's SCLC special assistant, L. Scott McNeil, who also owned the Dr. King signed Time Magazine Man of the Year cover that is respectfully offered for sale here.

We have studied Dr. Martin Luther King’s and Tupac Shakur’s signatures. The two enigmatic and complicated men continue to engage our collective psyche even after their passings. Literally holding in our hand a precious piece of their legacies, and being able to share it, is exciting.
