This piece comes to us from the family of gentleman who worked at the White House, upon his retirement during the Johnson administration the seal was presented to him as a gift. The seal measures approx. 16 inches in diameter and is made of a fiberglass/resin material, contrary to popular belief Presidential Podium Seals are not made of wood. This seal is considered to be the larger podium variety which was made for theTruman White House and used thru the Johnsonadministration.Beginningwith the Nixon administration the common practice was to use a smaller 12 inch seals and now the seals are even smaller I believe about 8-10 inches. This piece is a true work of art,absolutelystunning. The Seal was handcrafted by artisans at TheInstituteof Heraldry located inFort Belvoir which is in charge of making Presidential Seals for the White House. This istrulya rare offering I have been active in the hobby of Presidentialmemorabilia for over 30this is only the 3rd time I have seen an Presidential podium seal being offered for sale.
