Cooking with Kids on Thanksgiving: Easy Ideas

Thanksgiving meal prep doesn’t have to mean that you’re stuck in the kitchen alone. This year, let the kiddos help you to create a pint-sized Thanksgiving menu. Check out these easy, no-bake turkey day recipes that your guests will enjoy!

Deconstructed Pumpkin Pie

Instead of baking, this kid-friendly recipes gives your child the chance to create a delicious dessert that doesn’t require the use of a stove. Mix a batch of pumpkin-flavored pudding — let your child do the measuring to add in a math activity. Crumble graham crackers into a small-sized bowl or cup. Spoon the pudding on top. Add whipped topping and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Cranberry Sauce

Dress up your plain cranberry sauce with a few extra ingredients. Let the kids add in sliced almonds, chopped walnuts, orange/lemon zest, cut pieces of orange, raisins, or another favorite food (of course, pick one that matches the cranberry’s taste).

Turkey Cupcakes

Bake a batch of your favorite cupcakes. Let the kids frost the tops with a turkey-colored tan or brown icing. Add candy eyes, a yellow beak (with a dab of frosting) and feathers. Create feathers by pressing candy corn or cookies into the outer edge of the frosting. You can also try a similar idea with large sugar cookies instead of cupcakes.
