Easy Tahnksgiving Activity Ideas to Keep the Kids Busy
What are your kiddos doing while you’re busy in the kitchen cooking Thanksgiving dinner? If you’re looking for a way to keep your children busy on the holiday, check out these easy art activities with a Thanksgiving theme!
Turn paper bags into pilgrim puppets. Give the kids crayons or markers, black and white construction paper, scissors, a glue stick and lunch-sized paper bags. Turn the flat bags so that the flap faces out and up. Your child can draw a face on the flap, collage paper onto the bag to create clothes and make a hat with more paper and glue.
Trace your child’s hand onto a piece of construction paper with a marker or crayon. Your child can use the tracing to create a turkey (with the thumb as the face and the fingers as the feathers). This is an easy, no-mess activity to try any time on Thanksgiving day—even as a mid-meal entertainment break for cranky kids.
Pumpkin Pie Paintings
Paint your own pies! While you’re busy baking the real deal, your kids can paint pretend versions. Cut cardboard into pie-sized circles. Reuse boxes instead of spending money on new board. Your child can paint the pie and add crust with crumbled tissue paper (glued to the edges).
