Last-Minute Labor Day Activities for the Whole Family
Are you planning a family holiday weekend? If you’re not sure what to do this Labor Day, check out these fun-filled ideas that your whole gang will enjoy!
Create a Backyard Beach
Labor Day weekend is the perfect time for a beach vacation. But this doesn’t necessarily mean your family can take an impromptu ocean-side trip. If you can’t go to the beach, bring this type of holiday getaway to your backyard! Fill a children’s inflatable or paddling pool with sand. Use a second pool to create a mini ocean. Add shells and sea-life-like toys to both pools, place a few beach towels on the grass and spend the day playing in the yard.
Turn Your Yard Into a Drive-In Movie Theater
Keep the outdoor fun going with a drive-in movie theater. Instead of real cars, the kiddos can create their own make-believe versions using large cardboard boxes. Open the boxes, fold down the top and side flaps and decorate the outside of each “car.” Line the cars up, make a movie theater screen with a sheet and project a family-friendly flick after the sun goes down.
Plan a Picnic
If you need a simple Labor Day activity for the whole family, plan a backyard picnic. Let the kids help you to make sandwiches, salads and sweet desserts. Pack a picnic basket, place a large-sized blanket on the grass and enjoy an afternoon of food, family and fun.
