[Unidentified photographer:] Black children playing on the grounds of Hermitage Plantation House, Savannah, Georgia. Vintage gelatin silver print, 178 x 125 mm, ca. early 1900s. Labeled in pencil on the reverse: “Hermitage Savah Ga.” Some toning and silvering, light wear to the corners. Gutted by troops under the command of Gen. Tecumseh Sherman in 1864, the mansion was eventually purchased and demolished by Henry Ford in 1934.
