Last-Minute Kids’ Christmas Crafts
Are you looking for a few last-minute Christmas crafts for the kiddos? These easy-to-make art projects are perfect for the pint-sized Picasso who is looking for a holiday activity. Try these artsy activities with your preschooler, kindergartner or young grade school-aged child. You can easily adapt each idea to fit your child’s age, stage and developmental needs.
Red and Green Ice
Freeze two batches of colorful ice cubes — one red and one green. Drip a drop of food coloring into each compartment of an ice cube tray, add water and freeze. Give your child the frozen cubes to “paint” with. Your kiddo can push and roll and cubes over paper, watching as they melt and leave behind a water color masterpiece.
Christmas Tree Collage
Cut out a thin triangle from green construction paper. Give your child a piece of poster board or card stock to glue the shape to. Now your kiddo has a tree! Decorate the tree by gluing torn or cut paper, fabric scraps or other tissue paper onto it, creating a cute collage.
Gift Wrap Masterpiece
Use all the odds and ends you have left over from wrapping presents. The kids can cut or tear apart Christmas gift wrap, collaging it onto cardboard or poster board with clear-drying school glue. Add to the artwork by gluing ribbon or Christmas bows to the collage!
