Shavuot Flower Kids’ Art Activities

How can you help your kiddos to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Shavuot? Flowers and greenery are a major part of the holiday celebration. If your creative child loves to craft, check out these flower-themed art activities to try!
Tissue Paper Flowers
Kids can craft a bountiful bouquet of faux flowers for the holiday using tissue paper. Gather together colorful craft tissue and stack the pieces. Cut the stack into a circle. The bigger the circle, the fluffier the flowers. Grab the tissue at the center, pull and twist. Tie the end of the tissue together with a green pipe cleaner and fluff the flowers.
Flower Mural
Create a holiday mural that’s filled with nothing but flowers. Give your child a larger sheet of poster board or unroll plain gift wrap. Use temperas and brushes to paint over-sized flowers.
Flower Finger Paint
Your younger child can get crafty (and build fine motor skills) with this fun-filled finger paint activity. Pour finger paint or tempera onto a piece of scarp cardboard or a paper plate. Your child can dip the tip of their finger, their fist or their whole hand into the paint. Press their finger or hand onto a piece of card stock paper and repeat until they create a flower pattern.
