Description

Here is anice1851 in date Swedish naval boarding cutlassin good originalcondition. The nicely shapedblade is in good clean original condition which can be seen in the photos. The wooden griphas a nice patinadue to age and is tight on the blade with no looseness. The large bowl shaped steel guard has a dark smooth patina. On the end of the guard is a brass ships sword rack tag with the number 575 indicating this sword was likely from a large frigate which had many sailors. This cutlass would have been used against smugglers and pirates etc. In the 19th century Sweden was very involved in the slave trade particularlyin the Caribean and the very valuable cargohad to be protected from pirate attacksetc. In total measuring27.9 inches long and the blade measures21.9 inches long.
