Droopy, the Wolf, and Red are the most memorable characters from the animated cartoons directed by Fred "Tex" Avery for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer from 1943 to 1955. Many of these cartoons were made for adults first and children as an afterthought. "Tex" Avery was the undisputed master of the genre, and in 1943's "Red Hot Riding Hood" he introduced audiences to Red, the sexy and curvaceous star of The Sunset Strip nightclub. Her rendition of "Hey, Daddy" created a sensation, and she proved so popular that she returned to the screen in five more films. Animated by Preston Blair, her singing and dancing drove audiences (primarily lustful wolves and Droopy) to distraction, eliciting from them a plethora of unforgettable sight gags. Artist Kent Melton, the leading sculptor of animated characters for the past 25 years, has portrayed Red's flirtatious essence in three dimensions as she appeared in her debut performance. A limited edition of 750 cold-cast porcelain sculptures was produced from Melton's original work: each is numbered on the underside and packed in a decorative box. Melton's signature is incised in the base, and he signed each statue on the underside of the base. Included is the certificate of authenticity signed by Kent Melton.
"Oh, Baby!" Wolf seems to say with his eye-popping, jaw-dropping enthusiasm for sexy cabaret singer, Red Hot. The Wolf's frenzied and over-the-top expressions have influenced animation for years as well as the special effects in the movie, The Mask. A top Disney sculptor, Kent Melton has brought the Wolf to life with all of his crazy, liofferinous antics. A limited edition of 750 cold-cast porcelain sculptures, 9" in height on a 4 1/2" diameter base, have been produced by Melton. Each piece is numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and Kent Melton's signature is carved in the base. The Wolf is second in a series of sculptures created from these memorable MGM screwball cartoons. ★Out for big savings? Check out my other sales.★ ★Combined shipping discounts available ★ Payment:
