This is a very interesting powder flask indeed. I would think that it dates from the late 18th or early 19thc. You will see from the photos that it depicts St George slaying the dragon. It also has a crest with a double headed eagle and it was suggested to me that the the piece was Imperial Russian. However there is no crown and there are fleur de lils at the top of the crest which I believe were popular in Serbia at this time, leading me to believe that the piece may be Serbian in origin. However, I am no expert in this area and leave you to make your own minds up and would be interested to learn any thoughts or opinions, which I will post on the listing. In any event wherever its origins, it is very interesting old piece indeed.Made from base metal, It stands approx 13.5 cm in height to the top of the stoppers and is approx 9.5cm in diameter. It is in fine condition. I should mention that there are some signs of soldering, whether this was from the time of manufacture and was how the crests and spouts were originally fixed, or done at some point later in its long history I am not sure. These are minimal and it all looks original to me apart from the chain which looks like a later replacement.
