DEWITT C. GRAY a second class Muster of Captain the Band of the Comapny 1st regiment of New York Volunteers who was enrolled on the fourth day of October one thousand eight hundred and sixty one to serve three yers on Mar, is hereby discharged from the service of the United States this seventeenth day of august 1862 at Camp Cedar Run Va by reason of order of Maj General Reno in accordance with a sec. act of congress approved july 17, 1862 (no objection to his being re-enlisted is know to exist).
Said Dewitt C. Gray was born in New York in the State of New York is Twenty Five yers of age, five feet eleven inches high, fair complexion, blue ees, dark hair and by occupation when enrolled a farmer.
Given at CULPEPER VA this seventh day of August 1862.
