Beauty and Elegance don't even begin to describe the grandeur of this antique timepiece. The intricate details of the solid 18K gold tri tone case were crafted by S. Hyman & Co. The front case has a G and R inside of a shield with multi tone leaves around it all with excellent detail. The monogram is sorrounded by a solid gold ring which ends in dual tone leaves perfectly done on the outer rim of the front case. The sides of the case have a beautiful floral and vine design that accents the larger leaf design on the outer rim of the casings. The back case has a heron standing on a grassy knoll with the same solid gold sorrounding and leafed outer rim. Both sides open from a large box rim at the base of the watch that is fully carved with intricate details. The inside of the front case is stamped S. Hyman & Co. The back case is stamped Pat. Nov 15 Warranted 18 Karat Fine 11004, and the dust cover has a clear covered picture area in the center for a portrait or photograph. This wonderful case has an equally historic and wonderful movement in it. The face of the watch has Roman Numeral hour markers with blue hands and Elgin written across the top of the face and a hairline vertical crack that runs the height of the face. The movement is a lever set, size 6, 13 jewel, Elgin produced in 1882. The movement runs well, but if moved around a lot it can stop and start and is not guaranteed. The case on this piece is in fantastic shape with only very minor surface wear on the solid gold section of the back and front case.
