My name is Joe and I have gold fever. I am fortunate enough to have it at a manageable level and have kept the day job(I AM the Cable Guy in Eagle River). I have a friend who works in Nome on a 2 and 2 rotation. He started bringing samples back last summer and I started panning them and found colors in most pans. It is nice material that screams \"pan me\" to a prospector. I weigh and place ONE (1) GRAIN of gold in the sample This amount of gold in the pan would be considered \"life changing\" if you had a large deposit. I screen out all the larger rocks and the occasional musk ox turd. The bag is a quart ziploc freezer bag almost to the top and almost fills the small usps flat rate box. 3 pounds is 1/1000 of a yard and there are 480 grains to the troy ounce.
