Description
In the hard to find larger 9 1/2\" size (rather than the 8 1/2\" size) and a nice set of SIX. These Art Nouveau beauties were hand painted in the Beyer & Bock (Royal Rudolstadt) studio in Prussia likely around the 1920s-1030s. They are signed the painters, five by Mercier and one by Land. Likely the technique was to used a transfer outline to guide the artists. Each artist painted by hand, so each plate is slightly different. The plates were then fired, and then some raised enamel was added by hand to give the image a bit of a 3 dimensional look.These are large enough to function as service plates when you set of table or for a colorful cabinet display. If you like orange poppies, you will love these plates!
CONDITION: No chips or cracks, but there is some wear to the painting. The worse spots are shown in the photos. Gold rim are in VERY nice shape! Some every minor irregularities to the underlying porcelain as made.
