This \"bar\" brooch is circa early 1900\'s. This type of opal mosaic is rare, apparently not that many artists used this technique and I think it was only used in the early 1900\'s. Any piece I have seen has been very old. This is a unique style of opal mosaic. The opal mosaic design is to bevery \"rustic\". In addition, there is no quartz cap (so this is a doublet, not a triplet.) In addition, there is a nice dome to the mosaic. These are generally higher quality opal mosaics.

Vibrant high quality natural opal was used in this brooch, it is very colorful. This brooch is very heavy at 60g (so it is best worn on a jacket, collar, or any other stiffer material to support it), it measures 3 1/4\"x 1\", the opal portions are each 28x14mm. ***Please note there may be a very tiny bit of opal loss in one corner of the brooch, but it is hard to tell with this type of mosaic. Please look at the pictures and judge for yourself.*** It is just a gorgeous opal brooch! All the opal isvery secure. The pin mechanism is all intact, lock works great.

This piece is in excellent condition for vintage (see pictures for minor wear due to age)and is hallmarked: Taxco, 980, Mexico Silver.

This would make a wonderful addition to anyone\'s collection.
