80 Milwaukee Railroad Railway Tie Pole Date Nails 49, 9 C Nails + For Sale
80 Chicago Milwaukee St Paul & Pacific Nails. Includes Pole, tie, test section, & C nails as well as thethe R8, 08andrare 49.
A really greatset of Milwauke Road date nails. Some of the highlights of this set are the harder to find 49,2 1962 test section nails from test section 184, an R8 and9 C nails. Also has most variations of the other, more common nails. Set includes80 nails, the earliest tie nail an
08, the latest a 49.There is also aCopper Hubbard, the 28,and company pole nails WC & PC. We pulled the C nails from the Blackfoot Line of the Milwaukee in Montana.
The steel nails have been cleaned with the vinegar
method, andthe copper nails style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;" class="MsoNoSpacing">
It looks like whoever hammered the 08 in the tie must have hit it really hard, as the head itself is cracked between the 0 and the 8 (see photo). The rest of the nails are all in very good shape with little pitting on the head or shank and most
are nearly perfect. Most appear to be straight with the
heads sitting squarely on the shanks, a few are less so.Themost notableexception is the PC & WC nails, which since they are large and alsosoft copper, tend to bend fairly easy,so the head doesn’t sit square. The heads on the PC 30 & both of the WC nails are a little tweaked, but will still display beautifully. The rest seem to be good. As
you can tell by the photo, the rest of the heads are in really good shape and will display
well, but, as always, you be the judge. These nails would make a great addition to any
modeler’strain room, or railroadiana collection, and an exceptional addition to any nail collection.
The Milwaukee Road used tie nails from 1904 to 1958. Many variations and errors exist for both tie and pole nails on the Milwaukee.
Please look closely at the photographs. They are of the
actual nails you will be receiving. We will be happy to answer any questions.
