Lucite / Acrylic

BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL!!!

Measures approximately 10 inches tall and 4 inches long

This is the largest of Palatnik\'s classic Night and Day Owls. One side shows the color, the other shows dark at night time. He did these in a variety of colors and maybe four different sizes. Signed Pal. This owl has been damaged. The two ears have small chips, and there is chipping at the front of the base. He still displaysvery well. Please check out the pictures.

Please check my other listings. I will be listing many more Palatniks from my collection. Thanks!

I combine shipping for more than one item.

I have not cleaned or buffed the figures prior to photographing. Under magnification, you may see areas of roughness. Some of these can easily be washed off. Or they may be specks on my camera lens. Please let me know if you would like more clarifying pictures of any areas.

If you are familiar withPalatnik\'s art, you know the value of his rare lucite sculptures.

Some more common ones can be boughtfairly easily.Others are nearly priceless. All of them are avidly collected by connoisseurs of fineart.

If this is your first exposure to his kinetic art, please do a search on Abraham Palatnik, from Brazil. Youwill find fascinating material documenting his experimentation with lucite, acrylic, resin and other materials. He has been called a Pioneer of Kinetic Art, using kinechromatic devices, mobiles and creations.

His artwork complements art and design fromthe 60’s and 70\'s, embodying that artsy retro feel of the

Eames era,

Op Art,

Danish Modern,

Modernist, or

Art Deco.

Palatnik created his line of vintageLucite figures in the 1950s – 1970s. His traditional method of creating these figures consisted of molding two lucite halves and an interior plate that he then covered with a colorful design and signed with his signature. The signature is usually Pal, but more rarely, the full name Palatnik. His later pieces have added the copyright symbol. The two halves were then sealed onto the interior plate and lovingly smoothed, resulting in amazing light displays. Itis easy to simply gaze at them and smile, somewhat like gazing at a Christmas tree!

The surface of these animals is sooooo enticing. I don\'t know what process Palatnik used in making the lucite, but it is nothing at all like today\'s common lucite or hard plastic. You put it in your hand and

you KNOW you\'re holding the real thing!

I have been told that Mr. Palatnik destroyed the molds and processes that he used in the creation ofthese great works of modern op art. And I have never seen anyone else come even close to replicating them.

This great Brazilian artist also, at one time, had a partnership with Cartier in which his leopards were used with the Panthere perfume. Additionally, he worked with Hallmark for a few Christmas ornaments.

I have been a Palatnik collector ever since I came across thefirst one quite by accident on around 2010.

Since then, I have become acquainted with many collectors who aspire to possess one of each of Palatnik’s creations. It is a fun hobby, one that will increase in value. At one time, I had a beautiful menagerie of 400 pieces, including a chess set, the elusive dragon, many rare crackle and Silon pieces, as well as an extremely rare obelisk with Egyptian hieroglyphics. But it is now time to pass my little friends on to new families. So I will be listing the remaining 300 for some lucky collector or investor who will surely appreciate this fine art. Look on Pinterest, for my page, I Love Palatniks, where I have posted pictures of some of my other figures.

Please continue to check back as I put more figures to sale.

Shipping will be Insured Priority USPS for the continental United States, payable by the winning buyer. I will combine more than one sale to save postage.

Thank you so much for looking! Please email me with any questions, or if you are interested in my other listings!
