~Antique 1908 Advance Thresher Co Celluloid Match Safe Simple Traction Engine Rumely~You are looking at a Antique 1908 Advance Thresher Co Celluloid Match Safe. Celluloid match safe advertising Advance Thresher Co. This match safe has a pat date of June 1908 and was made by “The Whitehead & Hoag Co. Newark, N.J.One sideshows a man raising a flag with "Advance" on it, underneath reads "Compliments of Advance Thresher Co. Battle Creek Mich.". Theother sidereads "Advance Simple Tractor Engine" with an image of a tractor, underneath that, in very small letters, it says' "Pat. June 6, 1908 The Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, N.J.". Both of the sides have lists of distributing offices. Top flips up to get matches out. The Advance Thrasher Co. ceased to exist in 1911 when it was purchased by the Rumely Products Company to create The Advance-Rumely Company. Measures 2 3/4" tall x 1 1/2" wide. Condition isgreat with bright colors.It's104 years old. There is some staining/yellowing to the celluloid that can be seen in the second picture.
