Antique Chinese carved Baltic Amber Necklace bead pendant ornament flower gourd Up for sale is a very rare antique Chinese carved Baltic amber ornament. I am not sure of the exact use of this piece but due to the drilled holes I am guessing it was for clothing ornamentation or to be incorporated into a necklace or other jewelry. Measuring just under 1.5”wide and slightly over 3/4” tall and weighing approx. 2.5 grams, this stunning translucent orange, root beer colored amber has several“sun spangles” and inclusions. It is carved on one side with images that appear to be a gourd, flowers in a pot and a gourd in a bowl on top of a multi leveled table. The piece has 5 tiny drilled holes, one of which I have place a jewelry string tag through for demonstration. There are 3 holes along base and 2 near the top of the piece. There is some light residue from an old sticky tag on the smooth back which can easily be removed. There is a very tiny chip in the stem of the flower that can be seen in one of the pictures below. This has been in a friends collection for over 40 years and was purchased as an antique whenacquired. I believe this to be over 100 years old but can not find any exact comparable items to this in my research.
