Payment and Shipping Notice: Be sure to read the payment and shipping requirements at the end of the sale description before offerding. IMPORTANT NOTE: For international sales PayPal is ONLY acceptable for payments up to $2500. Special payment and shipping arrangements are required for amounts above $2500.
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to offerding/buying. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up - do not confuse them for additional shipping charges.
In addition, I do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as “gifts” - US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior. Any request to violate these regulations will be reported to .
And, finally, all items will be shipped using the USPS - other carriers are NOT an option with one exception. Fedex will be used when necessary to provide the required insurance for international shipments. All items must be fully insured with the winning offer amount declared on the custom’s form. There will be NO exceptions.
General Description: What is being offered for sale is an antique silver pocket watch by the Seth Thomas Watch Co. The very low serial number is 5368 and indicates a production date of 1885. The watch is a Model 1. See the twenty-three (23) photos for details and condition.
The watch is complete and fully functional. The movement appears to be all original with the exception of one case screw, which is steel color instead of blue. (Note that the steel color screw was obtained from another early Seth Thomas.) The case/movement combination is very likely original.
The diameter of the case is 55 mm.
Casemaker & Composition: The maker of the case is the Bay State Watch Case Co. The case is marked “Coin”.
Monogram: The case has no monogram or personal inscription.
Case Condition & Crystal: There is a shallow dent in the back of the case. In addition, this 128-year-old case shows considerable wear – it obviously did not sit quietly in draw.
Dial/Hands: The enamel dial is in good condition with only a couple of light hairlines and some chips on the outside edge, which is completely covered by the bezel.
The mi-concave “glass” crystal is new-old-stock.
Operational: I don’t know when the watch was last cleaned and lubricated, but as is, it is ticking nicely and the balance has a good strong motion in all positions and is true in both the round and the flat. The watch is likely keeping time to within a well within a minute per day, plus the regulator has room for adjustment. Note: The watch was wound and timed (dial up) for one hour and remained within 1 second of accuracy.
Winding/Setting: The stem-winding and lever-setting mechanisms are nice and smooth.
Guarantee: The pocket watch can be returned for a refund of the offer amount if the seller is notified within 14 days of receipt (as determined by Delivery Confirmation) and the watch is in the condition shown in the photos.
It is important to me that every customer is 100% satisfied. Thus, I will do whatever is required to make sure that each and every customer is pleased with ALL aspects of the transaction.
Payment and Shipment: All payments must be received by me within 10 days after the sale has ended. However, since I have a “no question return policy” and if the buyer is unable to make payment, he can simply cancel the sale without any consequences.
Regardless of the seller’s preferences (and PayPal is not my preference), ’s policy requires a seller to accept PayPal as the preferred form of payment; however, if a buyer wants a different form of payment, allows the seller to accommodate the buyer’s wishes – and I will be happy to do so.
IMPORTANT Shipping Details: US and non-US buyers pay for USPS priority mail, first class, or flat rate depending on the weight and size of the package and the value of the item (as indicated in the “Shipping & Payments” section of the listing). Media mail is also an option (in the US only) for books, piano rolls, and musical recordings. For US buyers and for items over $1000, registered mail is recommended – but will likely require several additional days for delivery by the USPS.
In ALL cases, the carrier must be the United States Postal Service (USPS). Fedex, DHL, and UPS are not acceptable with one exception. Fedex will be used when necessary to provide the required insurance for international shipments.
There are NO handling or packaging fees for shipping. Delivery confirmation and insurance (if required) will be paid for by the seller.
Important Notice: If an item is purchased by a US or a non-US buyer and it can NOT be insured for its full value with the USPS or Fedex, including the expensive Global Xpress Guaranteed (GXG), than the sale will be cancelled or the buyer can arrange for on-site pick-up or provide an address in the United States. Repeat: Expensive items will NOT be shipped unless they can be fully insured with the USPS or Fedex.
IMPORTANT NOTE: For international sales PayPal is ONLY acceptable for payments up to $2500. Special payment arrangements are required for amounts above $2500.
And, for the third time, the buyer will be responsible for any customs taxes that may be imposed on the “offer amount” of the item.

Second Chance Offer: I do not offer under buyers a Second Chance Offer unless it is through and by geatbuys4sale. If you receive such a notice, it is fraudulent and not from me. Be careful. There have been a number of attempts to resell my items. Only buy “through” and only with the seller “greatbuys4sale”. Note: I will on occasion, re-list an item with “Buy Now.” But that is within and only with greatbuys4sale.
