Big Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Scottish Agate Pebble Anchor Brooch Pin For Sale
This is a stunning big antique Victorian sterling silver Scottish agate carnelian anchor brooch.
The fouled anchor is a classic victorian love symbol with the anchor meaning steadfastness and the fouling wire meaning entwined forever.
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The superb stone cross is made for a single large section of high quality banded carnelian agate from near Cupar in Fife. The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces of this period, but has been fully tested and is sterling silver. The length is 6.8 cm ( Over two and a half inches ) and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition and original.
