This is a Trinket Box made by Halcyon Days Bilston and Battersea Enamels - The ship named "The Governor Endicott" is depicted on the Lid in Black and White Enamel looking a bit like Scrimshaw. The Bottom of the Box is Blue Enamel, the Inside, White Enamel. It is hinged and rimmed in brass with a tight fitting clasp.
The inside of the lid is inscribed with the following; "The Governor Endicott" Built in 1819 in Salem Massachusetts. Master: Benjamin Shreve, ancestor of one of the founders of SHREVE CRUMP & LOW CO. 1800-1975"
The inside bottom is inscribed with the crest of Shreve Crump & Low Co.
Shreve, Crump & Low, a is the oldest purveyor of luxury goods in North America,responsible for trophies such as the Davis Cupand the Cy Young Award.
The Box is in excellent condition with a small flea bite on the bottom (see photos) that can only be seen if you turn it over, upside down.
It measures approx: 2 3/4" long x 2" wide x 1 1/4" high
