“committee To Defend Martin Luther King, Jr.—support Student Sit Ins” Button:
This rare button was issued in early 1960 by the “Committee To Defend Martin Luther King, Jr.”, a group organized by supporters when Dr. King was arrested in Alabama on tax evasion charges in February of that year, the first person to ever be prosecuted under that state law. It is a 2 1/8” celluloid pinback button produced by the N. G. Slater Company. The center reads, “Support Student Sit Ins”. As you can see, staining is apparent, as well as surface scratches in reflected light. Shipped with USPS First Class Package.
