Early Chippewa (ojibwe) Indian Doll Folk Art Fabric Beaded Native American For Sale
Offered is an early 20th century Chippewa (Ojibwe) Folk Art Doll. This was purchased at an sale of Native American items. The original price tag is $75! A great find of the early crafts created for tourists by Native American from the late 1800s-mid-1900s. There is wonderful detail on this piece--beaded buttons, a necklace, doe skin moccasins with beads. fabric braid at back. The doll is made of a muslin material, a burlap shirt and fabric pants and tunic. The face appears to be a piece of old pantyhose with features embroidered on. Great care was taken to create this and the doll has obviously been kept on display rather than played with over the years. A unique find for the collector of Native American items or the doll collector. I'm offering some other dolls this week and I'm happy to combine shipping. Our
Native American and First Nation items have been collected from various
places--sales, estate sales, pow wows and craft stores from our
travels. Many of our First Nation items, especially quill boxes, were
purchased on Manitoulin Island, where we spend part of each summer. We
hate to let some of these items go but with our children in college,
it's time to liquidate some of the collection and share our items with
others. No international shipping on this one due to size.
