~ Frilly 50's Vintage Porcelain Bisque Cherub Boudoir Vanity Lamps Shabby Chic ~ For Sale
Dainty and Delicate late 50s- early 60s Hollywood Glamour Vanity LampsThese darling porcelain bisque lamps once graced my mother’s elegant dressing table when she was a young girl…I can picture these amid a vintage compact, powder puff, some lacy gloves and tiny crystal perfume bottles. Cream vase-shaped curves feature a raised motif of frolicking cherubs washed with a soft antique gold wash. The ornately carved cast brass bases add a baroque elegance. The metal has a dark patina finish and is signed BM 318.Originally these lights would have had the antique clip on frilly lace shades, but you could go for a more Hollywood Regency or “princess room” style with tailored silk shades too.I have not tried to clean these, as they are a bit dusty from being in storage, but they do work! The old thin cords/plugs appear to be from the same era however the plugs are slightly different in shape. I also noticed a tiny black mark under one of the cherubs. The socket (where the bulb goes in) is loose on one but looks like it can screw back into the top housing. The bisque part is about 6” tall on a 3.5” square base. The lamps are about 13” from the bottom to the top of the socket. Known as “boudoir lamps” “vanity lamps” “bedroom lamps” or “dresser lamps” ~~ these sweet and feminine lights would bring a beautiful vintage touch to a powder room, dressing room, or your own sleeping sanctuary.
