Please note I found it difficult to photograph this sampler ,and some of the photos do not do justice to it. It is a beautiful sampler and has to be viewed to fully appreciate it.
Gorgeous fine quality brightly stitched 18th c Antique Sampler created by 11 year old Mary Foulston in 1792.
This is a pretty example of an 18th c verse and spot motif sampler. Mary has meticulously worked \"part of the 119 th Psalm in 2 columns in the top half of the sampler, and the verse \" Jesus permit thy gracious name to stand..\" underneath. She has included intricate border patterns between the psalm and verse and underneath the verse, also a wonderful flower border encompasses the whole sampler. She has stitched flowers in urns and baskets, and some rose buds growing from the ground.All stitches are of extremely fine scale, quite incredible considering she was only 11 years old when she made it some 225 years ago.
Condition of stitches is excellent for age of sampler, few missing in lower verse. Colours of threads are very bright also for the age of the sampler, very good indeed. Linen ground has age toning, slightly darker at some edges, few holes, but still very good for 225 years old. Please see photos.Sampler has been recently carefully and sympathetically conserved on museum pro quality mount board slip cased in fresh pure linen, and set back from the glass in a later very good quality antique oak carved frame. Sealed at the back to keep safe.Frame is sound and in excellent condition. Sampler is ready to hang and enjoy.

Sampler displays extremely well and makes a very pretty focal point on the wall.
