If you are not familiar with Margot de Taxco, she was a rather noted American designer who moved to Mexico in the late 1930's.
Fondly known as "Margot de Taxco", she opened her own workshop in Taxco, Mexico in 1948. She quickly gained international attention for her intriguing and beautiful sterling jewelry, the designs for which were frequently based upon pre-Columbian themes. Her enameled jewelry has always been sought after and more recently become very highly collectible.
An iconic work from one of the Maestros de Taxco. It is documented on pg 138 of the book "Margot Van Voorhies, The Art of Mexican Enamelwork" by Penny Morrill. The snake series of work are one of the most desirable, interesting and spectacular pieces from all of her enamel on silver works. The "confetti glaze" was her secret, and she mixed the colors and went to her grave in 1974 with the formulas.
The bracelet is vivid and highly detailed. It is a must for any serious collector of work from the period. Dates to the mid '50's. It isin mint condition.
