Hand Braided Rawhide 41 Foot Reata, Roping Saddle Santa Fe:
Here is a hand braided rawhide reata. Nice flex. The reata is 4 strand, 41 ft. The lasso, from the Spanish word lazo was more commonly known as la reata, which was transformed to the word lariat by Americans that moved west and began to learn ranching skills from Spanish speaking settlers. The thickness is 3/8". Has a deluxe honda . Use it for ranch roping or on your old collectable saddle. To make a reata rawhide strips are cut from the full rawhide... reatas need long strings so they can be splice free. To get these long strings the whole hide is cut round and round to be able to obtain a very long strip of hide. After the cutting and before the braiding the strands of rawhide are trimmed in size and the most important they are beveled. The long strings are bundled up and this is called tamale that is similar to a big and heavy ball of yarn so it is easier to work with. A tough, strong man will work 3-4 days on a single reata. Payment is due within 5 days or I may re-list the piece!
