The Nationalities of Russia series of Pavel Pavlovich Kamensky (1858–1922) is the story embodied in porcelain about the main richness of Russia – culture of the people occupying it. The order for execution of the most large-scale series of figures in the history of Imperial porcelain plant was initiated personally by the emperor Nicholas II in 1907. Now it is known of existence of 74 figures from which the most part is in the Hermitage collection. The Nationalities of Russia series has no analogs in world porcelain practice as for its creation the unique method was developed. Each figure was simulated on the basis of the latest historical, ethnographic and anthropological data, by means of scientific consultants from lead agencies: Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (nowadays the museum of Peter the Great of the Russian Academy of Sciences) and Ethnographic department of the museum of Alexander III (nowadays Russian Museum of Ethnography). The detailed anthropological and ethnographic description of 74 figures grouped in regions is presented in the book. The edition is richly illustrated and intended as for experts, and for laymen.

В настоящее время известно о существовании 74 фигур, из которых большая часть находится в собрании Государственного Эрмитажа. Серия «Народности России» не имеет аналогов в мировой фарфоровой практике, поскольку для ее создания был выработан уникальный метод. Каждая фигура была смоделирована на основе новейших исторических, этнографических и антропологических данных, при помощи научных консультантов из ведущих учреждений: Музея антропологии и этнографии (ныне музей им. Петра Великого РАН) и Этнографического отдела музея Александра III (ныне Российский этнографический музей).В книге представлено подробное антропологическое и этнографическое описание 74 фигур, сгруппированных по регионам. Издание богато иллюстрировано и предназначено как для специалистов, так и для широкого круга читателей.
