This very cool, very old bronze depiction of the Sphinx at Delphi sits on a marble base.She measures about 8” long and 5 1/4” high at the top of the head, not including the 5 3/8 x 2 1/2 x 1 3/8 base.The condition is Good, Used with a bend on her top right wing tip that has a very small crack, which is soldered on the inside.There are some very small paint spots on the piece, some dings and scratches to the marble base. She sits a little loosely on the base.There are some holes in the bottom of the bronze figure and one on the inside of her left front leg. I believe that these are from the manufacturer. The unpacked item weighs nearly 4 lbs.This may be a souvenir from the Grand Tour of the late nineteenth century, but I can find no other image, or reference, of this piece.
