Here is a fantastic hand appliqued and intricately handquilted ca 1884 Rose Wreath quilt. The beautiful solid Red, taupe and calicoprint wreath patterns are entirely appliqued by hand using tiny stitchesnumbering 15 per inch. The quilting is worked in diagonal and Feathered Vinepatterns in rows measuring 1/8” apart at a rate of 10 S.P.I. Binding is handsewn to the white backing. If there is batting it is very thin. The date Sept.18 1884 is embroidered in taupe silk within the body of the quilt. The conditionis mint with only extremely faint soiling to be found and no holes, tears orwear and the measurements are approx. 75” by 73”.
