This is asuperb rare IrishGeorge III Sterling Silver ladle, which I believe to be made by John Osborne,and hallmarked c1792 at the Dublin assay office.

Thissumptuous largeladlehas a wonderful patina and features bright cut engraving, a curved handleand a blank cartouche. It measures approx.14 1/16inches (358 mm) long with a bowl that is approx. 312/16 inches (95mm) diameter by about1 11/16 of an inch (42mm) deep. The underside ofthe handle carries a set of Sterling Silver hallmarks for Dublin, with a clear well defined makers mark ofJO( which I believe to be the sought after mark ofIrish SilversmithJohn Osborne ), date letter \'U\' - c1792. This lovely large ladle weighs in on my scales at approx.155 grams.

This lovely rare Georgian Irish ladle has been used and shows signs of use, there are a few small impressions to one side of the bowl which I have been informed could be professionally smoothed out, however given this ladle is 220 years old condition is generally very good to excellent - as always I have left it in it\'s original state (please see pictures and make your own mind up). On the whole a very nice collectable ladle with a clear cartouchefrom a sought after Irish maker.
