Wonderful Antique Parker Brothers Pastime Wooden Puzzle Maine Estate:
This is for an awesome antique wooden Parker Brothers Pastime Puzzle. These puzzles are considered the cream of the crop to collectors. Pastime Puzzles by Parker Brothers are considered by most collectors to be among the finest ever produced and are treasured. These wonderful puzzles are always a challenge to build due to the intricate color-line cutting. If you're a jig-saw puzzle fan and have never assembled a fine wooden puzzle you are in for a real treat if you are fortunate enough to be the winning buyer. This is a 600 piece puzzle and does have 1 piece that is missing. It was made by a friend years ago and she said it was a desert scene. I have put together a colorful small section of an Arabian man so you can see part of the puzzle….see photo. I have counted 75 figural pieces to include hearts, circle, clover, male & female heads, shield, animals, numbers, letters, top hat, soldier, sword, pipe, cross, chair, bell, fiddle, wrench…etc.. See photos. They started making figural pieces in about 1909 or 1910. They would add 12 figural pieces to every 100 pieces. So…this puzzle should have at least 72 figurals and I counted 75. This was found on one of our islands here in Maine and does not have the original box but it is still incredibly collectible! Most all of the pieces are in great condition. There are just a few that have a small knick on an end where the plywood dried out over the years and the paper might be missing on that very small edge. You can rest assured that most are good.
