These area mysterious version of the M1917field suspenders issuedin WWI toDoughboys and Marines for the support of pistol or cartridge belts after the M1903 and M1907/1909 became limited standard issue. My inventory records indicate that I purchased these suspenders fromthe \"Armory of Orange\"inOrange, CA onMarch 2,1998. They are not the reproductions currently being made for re-enactors!

The suspenders are made oflighterkhakiwebbing material than is usually encountered. The suspenders are invery goodlightly usedcondition. There are no markings on them anywhere, so if anyone recognizes them and can provide some background, please contact me.Unlike the true M1917 suspenders which utilized a strap sewn to one suspender to inter-connect the two straps, these suspenders are riveted together at the center of the back (see images below). I guess the possibility exists they were simply made by some civilian company from surplus parts for supporting hunters\' belts. The buyer will have my usual unconditional five-day right of inspection and return/refund privilege, excluding postage, as stated below in the terms and conditions of sale.
