Howe declines an invitation, in part: "I am much concerned to find that I have left your kind...invitation unanswered...my mind has been unusually absorbed by family cares and troubles...I am sorry to say that I cannot promise to be with you." Letter accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in her hand to Margaret Sidney.
