  • *CONDITION STANDARDS*
MINT:Perfect condition, though even if in original factory bags pieces may have some tarnish
NEAR MINT:Full factory finish, only the most minor scratches from very limited use, any steel blades are free of rust, wear and scratching
EXCELLENT:Has most or all of its original factory finish, minor scratches from normal use but not distracting, any steel blades have little if any wear and are clean and mostly free of scratches(In our store listings, in most cases Listings described as EXCELLENT will have ALL Original finish with this condition standard, unless otherwise noted)
VERY GOOD:Retains most or all of the original factory finish and has no deep scratches or nicks unless noted. common from being used, light scratches are common with any preowned, used flatware from usage and age; Not distracting unless noted **WE DO NOT SELL ANY SILVER FLATWARE LESS THAN VERY GOOD IN CONDITION; Any flatware less than this condition is sold as 'CRAFT SILVER finish may be diminished, scratches from normal use, no deep scratches or dings unless noted, any steel blades may have some scratches
POOR:Factory finish is gone; the piece may have dings and deep scratches
SPECIAL NOTE: Tarnish is NOT considered in condition standards as it is NOT a damage or defect and is completely normal for Sterling, Other Silvers Including 'Coin Silver', Silverplate and some other metals. It can be removed easily (in most cases) with polishes. You will even see factory sealed pieces with tarnish. We polish ALL listings of Sterling, Other Silvers, and Silverplate Pieces UNLESS otherwise noted OR because you requested they not be polished. 'Rare' pieces are normally not polished and left to the buyer's discretion. In most cases, we do not polish until a listing is 'Sold', UNLESS an item we purchase at sale is heavily covered in tarnish to ensure there are no hidden damages underneath the tarnish. Please indicate in check out if you do NOT want your piece(s) polished or they WILL arrive lightly hand-polished. We ONLY use 'MAAS Silver Polish/Metal Protectant' on our listings, and highly recommend it; especially on old Steel/Carbon Steel Blades of knives. Thank you!
