GLASS CUTTER: The Pairpoint Corporation of New Bedford, Massachusetts
SIGNATURE: Pairpoint did not sign their cut glass.
PATTERN NAME AND REFERENCES: The pattern name is Mayfair. For reference I have included the picture of a compote from page 142 of the book The Essence Of Pairpoint by Frost. This pattern can also be seen on page 214 of the book The Comprehensive Guide To Pairpoint Glass Shapes & Patterns also by Frost. The flowers with sprigs and the fern type cutting differentiates this pattern from the other similar patterns cut by Pairpoint.
BLACK LIGHT TEST RESULTS: Confirms American Brilliant Period (approximately 1876-1916), but they could have been made a bit later.
MEASUREMENTS: They are 10-3/4" tall and the bottoms are 4" and 3-13/16" in diameter.
WEIGHT: 2-1/4 pounds combined
BLANK / GLASS CLARITY: These are blown blanks. They have hollow centers and the blank shape in the catalog is #1600. The glass is generally bright and clear, but to be picky I'll mention some minor gaffers breath on the interior of one stick. This can only be noticed if you hold the candlestick up to the light and look closely for it.
CUTTING DETAILS: The cutting is a somewhat shallow rock crystal type engraving. The pattern cutting in the middle portion mirrors its other side.
POLISHING QUALITY: The finish looks and feels crisp.
CONDITION REPORT (ALWAYS VERY PICKY): These pieces are in near perfect condition and I had trouble finding a pinpoint sized nick on them. Both bottoms show typical fine wear scratches on their high spots.
FINAL COMMENTS: Nicely engraved candlesticks like these are getting harder to find as time goes by. These will display well and could certainly be used as intended if desired.
offerDING FORMAT: There is with a $9 starting price. This is my favorite way to sell even high-priced items. I will never under any conditions end my sales early to sell to an anxious buyer requesting a buy it now.
SHIPPING & INSURANCE: A flat rate for shipping with insurance included by USPS Priority Mail to anywhere in the U.S.A. will be $10. Large or heavy boxes to distant locations in the U.S.A. may be shipped at my discretion using USPS Parcel Post. This method may take longer, but should save money for both of us. I don't ship my cut glass outside of the U.S.A. Please don't ask me to make an exception just for you. I will gladly combine multiple purchases at a reduced rate based on the buyer's location.
I am a member of the American Cut Glass Association. I subscribe to the ACGA Code of Ethics. I regularly buy quality cut glass and I hope to have plenty more to offer in my future items. I'm very much into cut glass, but I'm not your typical cut glass collector and dealer. I prefer to enjoy this glass for short periods of time and everything that I buy will eventually be sold. Because of this strategy I'm able to sell even the most desirable and rare pieces that I can find and not keep them for myself. Many serious cut glass collectors have benefited because of this and I also hope to keep the casual or beginner buyers happy with some desirable cut glass also. Please check out my other current listings and bookmark my site or add me to your favorite sellers.
RETURN POLICY: Please offer with confidence, your satisfaction is always guaranteed. I offer a 14-day return privilege. If you are unsatisfied or if you feel the item was misrepresented, it may be returned provided the item is in original condition. If the return is the result of an error on my part, I will refund the shipping & insurance costs also. For questions please use the "Ask seller a question" link in the sale or you can phone me at 412-486-9727 during reasonable Eastern Standard Time hours.
