Overall, in any and all of my sales, the per coin cost of the coins is the best indicator of the quality of the coins in that particular lot. I price $1 coins at $1 and $4 coins at $4 and so on so you can just do the math to help you with the quality.
The uncleaned coin market is changing. The amount of coins that are available are
drying up. They are getting harder and
harder to find and the prices seem to be increasing as well. I am changing somewhat how I
buy them from my suppliers and subsequently how I sell these coins.
Historically, I have sold 3 qualities of these coins that I called
“Good”, “Higher” and “Highest” quality. These coins were sorted by the excavators to
these qualities and sent to me taped up in bags. The “Good” quality coins are now upgraded to a higher quality.
I am starting immediately to buy and sell UNSORTED lots of Roman coins like the ones in this sale. They contain coins from $.75 to $3.50 in value in a mixed bag. I will sell these
coins in bags of 500 and 1000 coins (Like these in this listing). This 1000 coin lot in THIS sale is for two unopened bags of 500 coins that I will choose from the lots that I have both in stock and on .
I have
also devised a way to make it possible for you to buy one lot of 500 to "try" the coins and then come
back and buy another from the SAME lot if still available. I will number each lot and offer multiple
bags from each lot until each respective lot is gone. So instead of selling the same sale over and over with coins from different lots, I am identifying the lot for you with a number so you can buy more from that lot.
Here is an example of how it will work:
Suppose that I buy a lot of these UNSORTED coins that is
5800 coins. These will come to me in 11
bags of 500 and one bag of 300. I will
list them as one listing with two “sizes” available, 1 bag of size 300 and 11 bags
of size 500. This lot will have a stock
number in the title like 9856 or 10763, for example. If you buy one of the 12 lots in this larger lot offering and
like the coins, you can come back and be guaranteed to get the same quality of
coins until that lot is gone. I am also
using my old listing for 1000 “Good” quality coins to offer a 1000 coin lot “of
my choosing” from the lots that I have listed.
I will send you two bags of 500 of the best lot that I have in stock in my opinion at
that time with a discount for buying 2 bags.
Another example is if I get in a lot of 800 coins. I will open these coins and sell them as a
single lot of 800 or two lots of 400 or some multiple thereof. They will be priced based on what my cost is
for them and each lot of these will be a different price per coin.
The above explanation is how I will be selling all coins
that are priced from $3.50 and lower.
For coins over $3.50 per coin in price, I will continue to carry the
bags of 200 AND the bags of 250 coins that are about $4 per coin. They are in blue bags in the sale
photos that I have listed. See my response on these as I have been selling them for years. These are the “highest” quality
3rd to 5th century Roman coins that many of you have bought time and time again. I may also offer, from time to time, other odd
lots of $4 and higher value uncleaned coins that will be opened so you can see
them.
I also will occasionally have lots of larger As and
Sestertius uncleaned coins. I will
probably sell most of these as opened at various prices depending on the
quality. I also buy $30 to $50+ large and smaller
Roman coins and most times list these in single coin sales or 5 to 20 coin
sales.
The best thing I can do to connect you with the coins you
want is to try to offer as many lots as possible so you will have a good
selection. I will continue to buy and
list as many coins as possible in the future so check back often. To see my entire offering of Roman coins,
you can go to my store here: http://stores..com/empire-ancients/ and click
on “Ancient Roman Coins” in the categories on the left side of the screen.
I get asked a lot about silver coins in these lots. Most likely NONE of these lots will have
silver coins in them.
